E-learning
AHRENS & PARTNER have developed a catalogue of e-learning modules addressing the most varied topics, which can be combined to suit your individual training needs. We also develop new, customised components for your specific training needs.
The following methods and technologies come into play:
Computer-based/Web-based Training (CBT/WBT)
These are digital learning programs, which are made available to participants either via CD-ROM or the internet. They include text, language, image, videos and animation to communicate learning content. Program interactivity is what makes this type of learning unique and effective, i.e. the program enables feedback via testing.
Web forums
Web forums are virtual market places, where people can exchanges opinions, ask and answer questions. They can be complemented by the use of support document files and working materials which can be made available and shared. More often than not, with AHRENS & PARTNER a tutor is involved, who moderates discussions, answers questions and manages group processes.
Web-based questionnaires
Web-based questionnaires are an excellent medium to enable image comparisons (self and by others) or to implement team diagnosis. They can easily be filled out online, enable immediate results and facilitate the integration of various date sources to an overall result, such as with the AHRENS & PARTNER team diagnosis instrument - Team Temperament Analysis (TTA)
The e-learning methods offer a series of decisive benefits:
- Independence from time and place
- Can be used again and again
- Can take into consideration various learning types and speeds
- Can be well integrated to everyday life
These methods however have their limitations:
- Participant motivation in the context of purely virtual training programs is relatively low (see „The bubble has burst“)
- Only a few topics can be reflected completely in a purely virtual environment (management training, for instance, without direct people contact is close to useless)
- From a learning psychology perspective, electronic media are limited. They are for the most part suitable for communicating facts and theoretical concepts. They do not allow consideration of sustained learning and transfer at essential emotional levels.
For these reasons, AHRENS & PARTNER never uses e-learning elements on their own. They are always part of an overall concept which also includes presence events. This enables us and our clients to capitalise on their significant benefits without being subject to their limitations.
