Classical presence seminars
Classical presence seminars normally take place in hotels or in-house. They offer a number of clear benefits:
- High-level concentration on 'off-the-job' learning content
- Well suited to group work
- Moderation materials can be integrated
- Simulation exercises (video-supported) can be implemented (e.g. staff meeting role plays)
In combination with e-learning components and experiential methods, these benefits can be considerably extended:
- Via the use of CBT/WBT prior to a seminar, significant time savings can ensue enabling a shorter seminar timeframe to be used much more effectively
- While participants work on their CBT/WBT, they remain available on the job
- Via tutorial accompaniment (forums, e-mail, chats, phone contact) ongoing work over extended periods of time are possible
- Transfer, via CBT/WBT and tutorials, can also be ensured after the presence seminar
- Complementing the seminar with experiential methods (outdoor training for instance) or relocating the overall presence training to an unusual environment (e.g. to a sailboat in the case of team development), opens up opportunities for significant learning experiences. These ensure transfer and sustained learning.
